Wellington varsity volleyballers lose to defending state champion but beat Collegiate
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams journeyed to Rose Hill, home of the two-time defending state champions. The Crusader varsity program has improved in recent years, but they haven’t reached the pinnacle that are the Rose Hill Rockets.
In the first match, Wellington would lose to Rose Hill 25-11, 25-13.
But in its nightcap, Wellington would defeat Wichita Collegiate: 25-20, 18-25, 25-9. The Crusader record is 4-5 for the season.
In the junior varsity matches, Wellington swept, with a 25-21, 12-25, and 10-15 victory over Rose Hill. The young Crusaders then defeated Collegiate 25-20, 25-7.
In case you cared, Rose Hill’s varsity defeated Collegiate by the exact same score as it did against Wellington, 25-11, 25-13.
Wellington will travel to Clearwater next Tuesday for a triangular playing both the Indians, and the Chaparral Roadrunners.
