Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington volleyball team will be playing its first round of sub-state tomorrow. This game will be at Canton-Galva High School at  506 S. Kansas in Canton.  Wellington (21-11) will be battling Clearwater (13-20). The game will be held after the McPherson (32-5) vs. Ulysses (11-22) game at 2 p.m. The game is likely to start around 3 p.m..

This tournament is single-elimination and determines which team advances to the Class 4A State Tournament. It should be an interesting sub-state. If Wellington and McPherson survive the first round, they will be battling for the sub-state championship. The two teams met twice during the season, splitting the matches in three sets.

Here’s the map to Canta-Galva. Basically, when you get off I-35, turn east instead of west to McPherson.

Sumner Newscow will be providing live tweets of the regional.
