Wellington’s Anna Cullens named Big Cheese Athlete of the Week

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newcow — Anna Cullens, of course, has been named Big Cheese Athlete of the Week.
Cullens, a 1o9 pound wrestler for the Wellington girls wrestling program, captured the state championship with a 6-4 overtime victory over Skyleigh Pflaster of Abilene in the Kansas Division II finals on Friday in Salina.
Cullens, just a sophomore, has accumulated an incredible record. She was 31-1 this season and was 25-2 as a freshman when she was state runner-up. She became the first individual Wellington state champion since 2008 when Kody Page won it at 215 pounds.
For her effort, Cullens wins a large delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington in Wellington.
