by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — This week we are doing a double take for Big Cheese athletes. Wellington seniors Michael Ledbetter and De’Andre Washington are named co-athletes of the week.
Ledbetter, a Wellington senior quarterback, and Washington, a senior wide receiver, connected for 127 yards on nine pass receptions Friday night in Wellington’s huge 14-13 playoff victory in front of a packed Sellers Park stadium. Ledbetter and Washington scored on a 26-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. Ledbetter would score on a quarterback scramble from the 1 in the fourth, and Washington snagged an interception in the final minute of the game.
For both of their efforts, Ledbetter and Washington will each receive a FREE large delicious pizza at Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington.
