Sumner Newscow report — The Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division IV all-league softball and baseball teams were released this week.  Three Wellington girls and four Wellington boys made the first team.

Wellington senior Shiney Hughes was named a first-team catcher. Heidi Gulick became a first-team pitcher and Haley Gulick was a first-team utility player from the Lady Dukes.

On the boys’ side, Wellington senior Keaton Hartman at second base, sophomore Dusty Bannister at third base, sophomore Sky Branam and freshman Hank Shinliver at Utility were named to the first team. Shinliver was the lone freshman first-teamer.

The list was voted on by member coaches of the AVCTL DIV consisting of Wellington, Andale, Wichita Collegiate, Rose Hill, El Dorado, and Clearwater.

The Wellington girls finished 2-6 in the AVCTL DIV and 9-11 overall. The Wellington boys were 5-5 in the AVCTL DIV and 10-10 overall. Both teams were eliminated in the first round of regional.
