Larry Milton Johnson, 68, Oxford: Jan. 9, 1958 – Sept. 2, 2026
Larry Milton Johnson died in Winfield on September 2, 2026, at the age of 68. Larry was a Texan, born in Wichita Falls on January 9, 1958, to Arthur and Margaret (Leach) Johnson. He spent his childhood in Holliday, his early teen years in Amarillo, before the family moved north to Oxford, Kansas, where he played a lot of good football (#41), proudly earned the nickname “Tex,” and graduated in 1976.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he met on his very first day in Oxford, while the Johnson family was house hunting. They were married on December 2, 1977. She was the love of his life – which he reminded her of often during their nearly 49 years of marriage. Together they built a home on 40 acres just north of Winfield, and a life together.
