by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington swim team met for the first time this season at the swimming pool this morning. The numbers are down a bit – 50 have registered.

If you have children, who is looking for something to do, and/or likes to compete, or doesn’t have another sport then the Wellington Swim team may be for them. It’s not too late to register. Just contact the Wellington Recreation Commission to register. 

The season lasts through the middle of July. The great thing about swim team is everyone plays. There is no one sitting the bench.

The meet schedule for the Wellington Swim Team is as follows: 

Tuesday, June 6 at home against Derby

Tuesday, June 13 at Twin Rivers

Tuesday, June 20 at home against Haysville

Tuesday, June 27 at Winfield

Thursday, July 6 at home against McPherson

Tuesday, July 11 at Valley Center

League Finals are in ElDorado Fri.-Sat, July 14 and July 15. 

Districts will be held in Wichita the weekend of July 21.

Championships for those that make it (Wellington had two last year) will be Columbia, Mo., the weekend of July 28.
