5 people injured Monday afternoon in 3-vehicle accident west of Oxford

By Shane Farley, Newscow.net — The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on U.S. 160 highway and left the roadway closed to traffic for a time.

According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Catherine Wills, of Mulvane, was eastbound on the highway in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee when she attempted to pass slower traffic.

Wills entered the westbound lane where she collided head on with a 2000 Chevy pick-up driven by 76-year-old Bobbie L. Treat, of Oxford. Treat’s truck was then struck from behind by a 2000 Dodge Stratus driven by 28-year-old Samantha Fortner, of Oxford.

Wills was taken, by private vehicle, to the hospital in Winfield for treatment. A passenger, 57-year-old John Wills, of Mulvane, was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Treat was transported to Winfield for medical treatment. A passenger, 34-year-old Bobbie L. Treat Jr., of Oxford, sustained minor injuries.

Fortner was transported, by private vehicle, to the hospital for treatment.

All involved were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.
