Three days later, Andale sweeps Wellington’s baseball team

Sumner Newscow report — Wellington and Andale did not play baseball Monday due to the wet conditions of Hibbs-Hooten Field. On Thursday, the make up games were played with Andale sweeping Wellington 2-1 and 16-2.

The Crusaders scored their only run in the third inning on an error after Cade Phelps singled

Wellington held Andale scoreless for five innings thanks to Cade Phelps big performance on the mound. He struck out six batters, walked one and surrendered seven hits in the loss.

Andale scored the game-tying run in the top of the sixth and would follow through in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh and eventually victory.

The Crusaders had no luck in game two, getting run-ruled after five innings. After surrendering a run in the first inning, Andale would score eight runs in the top of the second and four runs in the third.

Melton threw a one-hitter in five innings for Andale.

Wellington pitchers had no such luck on the mound. Four Crusader hurlers gave up 15 hits.

Wellington is now 2-8 and hosts Buhler in its final home double header of the regular season. Stats are as follows:
