All Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV lists for basketball and wrestling are released

Wellington head coach Eric Adams and player Lyndi Barton sweep all-league AV-CTL D-IV coach and player of the year honors.

By Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — All-League selections for the 2025-26 Ark Valley Chisholm Trail Div. IV seasons for basketball and wrestling were released.

Wellington High School had two girls make the first team all-AV-CTL DIV IV. Two made the second team, and one was an honorable mention. Wellington girls’ head coach Eric Adams was named Coach of the Year. Lyndi Barton was named Player of the Year.

The Crusader boys’ basketball team had one player make second team AV-CTL DIV and two players make honorable mention.

The Wellington girls wrestling team had four Crusaders make the all-AV-CTL DIII-IV first team, one make the second team, and two make honorable mention.

The Wellington boys’ wrestling team had one make the All AV-CTL DIV First team, four make the second team, and one makes the honorable mention.

WELLINGTON GIRLS BASKETBALL 

Lyndi Barton vs. Hays in 2025.

Barton, a 6-0 senior, was named the AV-CTL DIV Player of the Year. Barton, who played heavily in the four-year starting rotation for Wellington, had a banner year. She averaged 16 points per game and seven rebounds per game.

She broke five records during the season.

•Field goal two-points in a season – 176 (old record was 152 Lindsay Davis).

•Field goal two-points in a career – 399 (old record was 390 Val Norwood).

•Double-doubles for a season – five (old record was four, Davis).

•Field goals made in a game – 14 (tied old record).

•Blocks in a game – six (tied old record).

Wellington head coach Eric Adams in the sub-state game against Abilene. 

Adams coached Wellington to its fifth consecutive Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV Championship with a 10-0 record this year. He has not lost a league game since 2023 – when the Crusaders lost to Andale.

Wellington finished 23-3 and placed fourth in the Class 4A State Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson.

•Dru Zeka, a 5-10, jr., was named to the First Team All AV-CTL DIV. She had 11.5 points per game, three assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game.

•Viv Wright, a 5-10, so., was named second team All AV-CTL IV with 7.2 ppg, 3.7 apg, 3 spg.

•Kirstyn Gregory, a 5-8, jr., was named to the second team All AV-CTL IV with 10.5 ppg and 5.7 rpg.

•Cruz Cornejo, 5-7, sr., was named honorable mention All AV-CTL IV with 6.5 ppt and 3.2 spg.

WELLINGTON BOYS BASKETBALL

The Wellington boys finished 3-7 in the 2025-26 AV-CTL DIV season.

Cole Zeka scored 28 points for Wellington vs. Winfield in late January.

Cole Zeka, a 6-3 junior, was named to the second team All AV-CTL DIV. Zeka led the team with 264 points for the season, shooting 84 field goals in 280 attempts. He averaged 12.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

Jackson Newman, a 6-0 senior, was named honorable mention All AV-CTL DIV. He had 7.2 ppg and 2.7 rpg.

Cooper Hatfield, a 5-11 senior, was named honorable mention All AV-CTL DIV. He had 5.8 ppg and 5.4 rpg.

WELLINGTON GIRLS WRESTLING

Four Wellington girls, all state qualifiers, were named to the first team AVCTL DIII-IV list. London Pourner at 100 pounds, Meryn Metzen at 110, Maddie Fullerton at 130 and Mikayla Ybarra at 145 were named to the first-team list involving 14 girls. This list was tougher to make than all other all-league lists here because it included D3 schools like Augusta, Buhler, Circle, McPherson, Mulvane and Winfield.

The second team list includes Georgia Shinliver at 140.

The honorable mention list included Aubri Rohrer and Caydence Taylor from Wellington.

WELLINGTON BOYS WRESTLING

Wyatt Nedrow at 113, a freshman, was named first team All-League AV-CTL DIV list from Wellington.

Wellington had four wrestlers on the second team. Jett Hays at 120, Aiden Rains at 157, Cayson Ramirez at 190 and Goran Djurovic at 215.

Noah McComb at 285 was named as an honorable mention.
