Dr. Warren G. Cellers, 92, of Arkansas City, Kans. died peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor of Arkansas City.

Graveside Military Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Riverview Cemetery of Arkansas City.  Friends may call at Shelley Family Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.  A memorial has been established in W.G.’s name for Presbyterian Manor of Arkansas City, Kansas.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.  For more information or to send a condolence, please visit www.shelleyfamilyfh.com.

W.G. “Doc” was born August 24, 1922 in Auburn, KS to Harold and Lois (Moore) Cellers relocating to Carbondale, KS, where he completed his early education.  At age 17, with parental consent, he enlisted in the United States Army.  He served as an amphibious engineer, building bridges.  Involved in seven invasions, his tour of duty took him such places as Sierra Leone, Africa; Sicily, Italy, Europe, and into Berlin, Germany.  He was honorably discharged, October 11, 1945, with the rank of Buck Sergeant.

He graduated Logan Chiropractic College, St. Louis, where he met and married his first wife and mother of his two children, Betty Joy Paris July 1, 1949.  He began his practice in Wellington, KS and remained there through 1968.  The family relocated to Arkansas City, KS where he retired in 1985.  His son, Larry, joined the practice in 1973 working with his father, ultimately taking over the practice.   His patients will remember his healing touch, his enormous smile and that joyous laugh.

He married Betty Lue Hobbs, in October 1989. The couple made their home here in Ark City.

W.G. is survived by his wife, Betty of Ark City; his sister, Alice Weir of Carbondale, KS; his son, Larry Cellers and wife Darla of Ark City, his daughter, Connie Cellers, Oklahoma City, OK, his granddaughter, Valery Boothe and husband Justin of Wichita; his great-grandchildren, PFC Cody Shire and wife Tia and their son, Liam of  Augusta, GA; Caleb Bourquin of Wichita, KS and Landon Boothe Wichita, KS.  He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Lois, two brothers, Dean and Dale, and in 1984 by his first wife, Betty Joy Cellers.
