Faith Sauzek, 82, Wellington: Feb. 2, 1943 – March 18, 2025
Faith Deana Sauzek died on Tuesday, March 18, at the age of 82. She was born in Goodland on February 2, 1943, to parents Darrell “Dean” and Elisabeth “Betty” Ellen (Holmes) Dicken. From a young age, Faith went by her middle name, Deana. Deana attended K – Third grade in Lincoln, KS, fourth through eighth grades in Hays and Mead, KS, and graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita, KS, in 1961.
In 1962, she attended college at the University of Wyoming for a short time before transferring to Kansas State University for the remainder of the semester, then returned to Wichita, KS to attend Wichita State University. Deana worked many small jobs over the years and also taught kindergarten at a local Christian school. She attended New Life Interfaith Chapel in Udall, KS, where she met her future husband, Roy Sauzek. Roy and Deana were married on May 4, 1985. In 1986, their son Nathan was born, and Deana was 43. Deana started going by her given first name, Faith, in the mid-1990s at the Lord’s direction.
Faith enjoyed sewing and made most of her clothing when she was younger, along with gifts and two wedding dresses. She was also fond of knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, and embroidery, along with arts and crafts. She also cherished her dog, Karmi.
Roy and Faith usually had a vegetable garden. Faith could be found working outside with the shrubs and flowers. In recent years she enjoyed nurturing starter trees in her yard, where the squirrels planted them. She appreciated the time spent raising her son and tending to her home and husband. Most of her time was devoted to the Church and Ministry work Roy and her were called to do. She worked diligently as a scribe, keeping track of all meetings and ministry information, as well as leading songs in praise and worship. She was devoted to serving the Lord and sharing her faith and love for Jesus.
Faith Deana was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Mark Dicken. She is survived by sisters, Barbara Richardson of Belle Plaine, Julia Stewart of Missouri, son Nathan Sauzek (Jessie) of Belle Plaine, step-children Tiffin Meyer (Bob) of Wellington, Nicole Rhine of Alexandria, Virginia, Eden Burrows (Chet) of Olney, Texas, grandchildren; Hoyt Burrows (Kaitlyn), Wyat Burrows (Makenzi), Cauy Burrows (Laney), Taylor Meyer, Tanner Meyer, Hayley Sauzek, Cheyenne Sauzek, Riley Sauzek, Laken Sauzek, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Faith will be held at Cornejo Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025, with the family being present from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Cornejo Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025. A private interment will be held at a later date.
A memorial fund has been established in her loving name to Take His Heart Ministries. Contributions may be mailed to PO Box 532 Wellington KS 67152 or left with the funeral home.
