Field survey is set for proposed U.S. 81 improvements near Wellington
Sumner Newscow report – A field survey for proposed culvert improvements on U.S. 81 south of Wellington is expected to start around Monday, Aug. 28.
The proposed improvements would be on U.S. 81 about 1,200 feet north of East 40th Road. The length of the field survey will be about 3,000 feet, and the survey will be based on the existing alignment.
The Kansas Department of Transportation survey will gather information needed for the detailed design of the proposed improvements. The survey is estimated to be completed by Sept. 20.
A member of the survey crew first will contact property owners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property. Survey activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.
Joe Bowen, P.S., Survey Project Manager, with KDOT’s Bureau of Right of Way, will be in charge of the survey.
