Gulf South Rail Cars is a new business in Sumner County
Submitted to Sumner Newscow — The Sumner County Economic Development Commission would like to welcome Gulf South Rail Cars as a new business in our county. Gulf South Rail Cars services Tank Cars, Hopper Cars, Box Cars, Auto Rack Cars and PD Cars.
With adding a Kansas location, Gulf South offers services in 17 states. All locations offer Repairs to Cars either at Repair tracks, Mini-shops or by Mobile repairs. The Sumner County location will provide service as a Mobile Repair operation. The company began in 1980 and their staff has over 60 years of experience in repairs and service.
“We are passionate about our services and strive for excellence with our customer’s best interests in mind so we are pleased to be offering our customers a location in Kansas,†stated Ron McDowell, General Manager of Gulf South. “To begin with, we will have 5 employees/sub- contractors at our new location and we expect our first cars to start arriving March 1, 2014.â€
“We are excited to have this company as part of the Sumner County business community. They have secured a lease agreement with The Scoular Company to use their rail spur and engine to facilitate the movement of rail cars at their grain terminal East of Wellington. This is a great partnership between companies,†said Janis Hellard, Director of the Sumner County Economic Development Commission. “We also want to thank the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition (GWEDC) for putting us in touch with this company.â€
