If you can’t get on Newscow site, you must empty browser cache
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — If you are reading this article, you obviously don’t have an issue concerning getting onto this website. But if you have friends who can’t log onto the site, or you are personally having issues on another computer, this information will come in handy.
On Monday afternoon, the two Newscow sites – Sumner Newscow and Newscow.net – experienced a crash that knocked us temporarily off our server. We returned about an hour later.
However, a good number of readers, continue to log on and see a “Startlogic†or WordPress message stating the site is still offline, or something that includes a red background and a discombobulated layout.
What you need to do is empty your web browser cache on your computer. An excellent website to help you through this process can be found here: http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/. Sometimes all it takes is clearing your browsing history. A browser is Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc. — an Internet platform to move you from site to site.
Each computer contains a cache – a list of web addresses that you have logged onto in pasts and prioritizes specific addresses that you use often. Because Newscow is one of your favorite sites, it automatically shoots you to that specific site in the speediest fashion.
However, when we went down and then came back up we had a specific new location in the cyber world, although the address is the same. Some computers didn’t get the message and continue to return to the old location which is the location of the crashed site.
Think of it as we moving to a new house next door and not telling you. Someone has to tell you where we moved. Essentially that is what you have to do, tell the computer the new location. And that means emptying out the old information.
