Sumner County Docket: Jan. 28, 2014 report

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The following are a list of criminal court complaints recently filed by the Sumner County Attorney’s office.

These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Joseph Vestring of Wichita was charged with possession of alcoholic liquor, a Class C misdemeanor; transporting an open container, an unclassified misdemeanor; and refusal of PBD, a traffic infraction.

Vestring is accused on Dec. 28, 2013 of supplying beer to people under 21.

John Sullivan, born in 1973, of Andover was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Sullivan is accused of on Jan. 1, 2014 of dropping a small packet of meth out of his billfold onto the floor which he discreetly covered with his foot and put into his coat pocket where it was found by law enforcement in a subsequent search.

Timothy Hartzell, born in 1981, of Emporia, was charged with identity theft, a level 8 felony; unlawful use of non-driver’s identification card, a Class A misdemeanor; interference with law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; and forgery, a level 8 felony.

Hartzell is accused on Jan. 9, 2014, of issuing a false social security card belonging to another individual in hopes that he can write checks at the Kansas Star Casino. He then allegedly walked away and physically resisted being handcuffed when an agent said he was under arrest.

Then, he allegedly signed the Miranda rights waver using the name of another person that was either real or fictitious.

Michael Ark, born in 1953, of Wichita was charged with theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

Ark is accused on Jan. 2, 2014 at the Kansas Star Casino of using a cash voucher from a slot machine belonging to another person, cashing the money and not returning it to the rightful owner.

Shawnel Drouhard, born in 1967, of Caldwell was charged with driving under the influence, a Class A misdemeanor – her second offense; interference with a law enforcement officers, a Class A misdemeanor; driving left of center and driving at unsafe speed, traffic infractions.

Drouhard allegedly on Jan. 10, 2014, was operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration level of .08 or more. Drouhard also alleged resisted arrest after being stopped for traveling east on 60th St and turning right in which she made a wide turn almost going into the east ditch then overcorrecting and going into the west ditch.

Zachary Hunter Leis, born in 1994, of Wellington was charged with driving while suspended, a Class B misdemeanor; illegal parking, a traffic infraction; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Leis is accused of at the intersection of Circle and Western Streets in Wellington operating a vehicle with license suspended and unlawfully parking in intersection. She is accused of having a baggy of marijuana, bong and marijuana pipe.

Cindy Doerge, born in 1959, of Wellington was charged with theft, a level 7 felony.

Doerge is accused of unlawfully obtaining control of a bank deposit bag containing deposits of about $47,000 from Sumner Cowley Electric which included checks totaling about $46,000 and cash totaling $1,004. She allegedly took the deposit bag out of the drive through box at Security State Bank on Dec. 16 and left the bank premises with the bag and its contents.

Kent Eyman, born in 1978, of Wellington, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 drug felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Eyman is accused on Jan. 18 of possessing meth located in a syringe located in a pouch inside a larger blue bag, and a smoking pipe located in his right front pocket.

Debra Elliott, born in 1965, of Wellington, was charged with aggravated assault, a level 7 felony.

Elliot was charged with brandishing a baseball bat as if she was going to strike another person.

Alec Joseph Stanley, born on on Nov. 14, 1995 of Conway Springs was charged with minor in possession.
