Sumner Roundup:

Conway Springs 13 Garden Plain 7

The Cardinals have won a state championship, but going into Friday, they haven’t been beating Garden Plain lately. That changed last night when the Cardinals defeated the Owls 13-7 in a defensive struggle.

Conway Springs scored a couple of touchdowns in the second quarter, which was good enough for the win. After a scoreless first quarter, Isaac Winter rumbled in from the 1 to give Conway Springs a 7-0 lead. Cade Howell followed suit six minutes later.

The Cardinals held Garden Plain scoreless until the fourth when Brady Brack rushed in from the 1.

Conway Springs had 180 yards of offense compared to Garden Plain’s 168. Winter rushed for 64 and Osner 67.

Cardinals improve to 2-0.  The full stats are here: CS VS GP BOX SCORE
