Sumner Emergency Director James Fair: Possible severe storms could hit county Wednesday afternoon

(Updated: April 9, 2015, 11:30 a..m.) Sumner Newscow report —  Sumner County Emergency Director James Fair sent out the following news bulletin:

 

“Scattered severe thunderstorms will be likely this afternoon around the lunch hour…then a second round of thunderstorms will occur around the 4-6 p.m. timef rame across south central and southeastern Kansas today.

Any storm development will have the potential for hail up to baseball size, 70 mph straight line winds and tornadoes.

Thunderstorm activity is expected to begin from an Anthony/Kingman/Hutchinson line and move to the east/northeast throughout the afternoon and evening hours. These will be supercell high precipitation type storms that could possibly cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.

We ask everyone to please be VERY weather aware today and listen or watch your favorite severe weather information source today and into tonight.”
