Two car accident involving 12-year-old driving a Polaris UTV occurs on U.S. 81

Sumner Newscow report — There was a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday at 2:39 p.m. on U.S. 81 between South Haven and Caldwell at 22 West 170th Street in Sumner County. It was at mile marker 8.5.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 12-year-0ld female from Caldwell was driving a 2024 Polaris Ford Ranger 1500 UTV eastbound on U.S. 81 attempting to make a left turn. Marcus Cable, 75, of Grandview, Mo., who was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram, was also driving eastbound on U.S. 81 when it attempted to pass the Polaris, striking it with the front driver side. The Polaris rolled onto its side.

There were two occupants in the Polaris, including an 8-year-old and Pamela Lungren Sproul, 70, of Caldwell. The two juveniles did not have any apparent injuries, Lungren Sproul had suspected minor injuries and was taken to Caldwell Regional Medical Center.

Cable was not injured.
