VFW to hold Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, Wellington Food Bank will hold one Thursday
by Amber Schmitz, Sumner Newscow — Many people have nowhere to go on Thanksgiving. With that in mind, there are community Thanksgiving dinners, free and open to the public, available to residents.
The annual Veterans of Foreign Wars Thanksgiving dinner will be held this Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall. The meal is free and open to the public, and you don’t have to be a member of the post to partake in the meal. Individuals attending are more than welcome to bring a side dish or dessert if they choose to. The meal is first come first served and will begin after the opening ceremonies and prayer.
The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, hosted by the Wellington Food Bank, will be held on Thanksgiving day at the Knights of Columbus Hall promptly at noon. The meal is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted and appreciated. Attendees are asked to bring side dishes and/or desserts. This meal would not be possible without the businesses who donate and the assistance of the volunteers. Those wishing to volunteer can call Susan Musson at 620-440-8974 or Theresa Snider at 620-326-7804.
