TJs Barbecue Competition team of Jeff and Tiffany Ferguson placed first in chicken and second in ribs for a third overall finish.

Jeff and Tiffany Ferguson with family members place third overall.

The event, which was the first annual festival, started with meat inspection at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.  There were three meats-ribs, chicken thighs, and brisket. There was also an optional competition for beans and sauce. Chicken turn-in started at 10 a.m., ribs at 10:30 a.m., beans at 11 a.m., brisket at 11:30 a.m.  The rain started around 1:30 p.m., so it was a mad hustle to wrap up the people’s choice and pack everything up before it got too soaked.  But, it stopped almost as soon as it started and the awards were presented around 2 on Saturday as expected.
