Win $200 in cash and prizes with the 2023 Dore, Sumner Newscow Bracketbuster Challege (with updated bracket)
Updated bracket (Monday, 3 p.m.)
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Dore and Sumner Newscow are teaming up for The Dore and Cow Bracketbuster Challenge. The winner will receive $200 in cash. The second prize will be a $50 gift certificate to The Dore and the third prize will be a $25 gift certificate.
The contest will be exclusively paper brackets. You can pick up brackets at The Dore, located at 114 N. Washington Ave. The official bracket can also be printed here.
Remember all bracket entries must be completed and handed to The Dore by noon on Thursday, or be mailed and postmarked on Thursday to Sumner Newscow at Tracy McCue, 22 Sunset Road, Wellington, Kans. 67152. Late entries will not be accepted.
The rules are as follows:
1. Only one bracket per person, please. Use your real name. You can submit your children’s name, but “Little Joey” gets the money!
2. Employees and family of The Dore and Sumner Newscow are ineligible for prizes.
3. Round 1 will be worth 1 point. Round 2 – 2 points. Sweet 16 – 4 points. Elite 8 – 8 points. Final Four – 16 points, and Championship round – 32 points. Don’t pay attention to the play-in games. However, if a play-in team advances past round 1, you must designate the correct play-in opponent to win the points.
4. Tiebreakers will be determined based on brackets turned in to The Dore over those mailed in first. If both tiebreaking brackets are either submitted at The Dore or by mail, then the tiebreaker will be the number of wins in the round of 64. Then the round of 32, etc. If the bracket points are tied by the championship then a drawing will occur.
5. Remember the deadline is noon on Thursday. Yes, some games will start, but this gives people a chance to hand in the bracket during the Thursday lunch hour.
6. Again do not pay attention to the play-in games.
Sumner Newscow will announce the winners at the end of the contest and keep you updated weekly. The top prize will get their picture taken at The Dore provided you live in Sumner County or within driving distance. Have fun! And may your favorite team win while eating some great food at The Dore.
