Barry Mashburn

Barry Mashburn died on September 1, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1956, in Beloit, Wisc. Barry was a compassionate, funny, dedicated, and loving man whose warm spirit touched the lives of many.

Barry dedicated 28 years of his life to the medical field as a Licensed Practical Nurse. His compassion and dedication were especially evident in his work in pediatric nursing. Caring for others was more than a profession to Barry; it was a calling. He found purpose in helping others and took great pride in the care he provided to his patients.

Outside of his nursing career, Barry had many interests and talents. He had a deep interest in genealogy and enjoyed learning about his family history and the generations who came before him. He was also a skilled mechanic, always willing to share his knowledge and expertise with those around him. His curiosity, talents, and willingness to help others reflected who he was.Throughout his life, Barry lived in Tennessee, Missouri, and Texas before making Wellington his home. Wherever life took him, his family remained at the center of his world. Barry took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren the skills he had learned throughout his life, including nursing knowledge and survival skills. The lessons he shared and the memories he created will continue to be cherished by his family for generations to come.

Barry met Kimberly Engren on a blind date on February 14, 1983. Just two months later, on April 16, 1983, the two were united in marriage and began a life together that would span more than 43 years. Their love and commitment to one another remained a meaningful part of Barry’s life and legacy.

To those closest to him, Barry was affectionately known as “Keith,” while his oldest granddaughter, Aubree, lovingly called him “Puppy.” These names reflected the special relationships he shared with the people he loved most.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kimberly Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas; his children, Brian Mashburn (Kim Mashburn) of Wellington, Kansas, Zabrina Mashburn (Trevor Crouch, significant other) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Bridgett Pitts (Eric Pitts Sr.) of Wellington, Kansas, Jennifer Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas, and Alexander Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas; his siblings, Gary Mashburn of Winfield, Kansas, Carolyn Wiley of Wellington, Kansas, Debra Silva of Wichita, Kansas, and Joseph Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas; his grandchildren, Aubree Lovell (Tyler Lovell) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Angel Cooper (Ben Cooper) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Kenneth Crooks-Mashburn (Ally Mashburn) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Jody Crooks-Mashburn of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Serenity Williams of Wellington, Kansas, Kathleen Williams of Wellington, Kansas, Bella Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas, Arianna Mashburn of Lawrence, Tennessee, Presley Mashburn of Wellington, Kansas, Eric Pitts Jr. of Wellington, Kansas, and Ethan Pitts of Wellington, Kansas; and seven great-grandchildren.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Mashburn; his daughter, Goldie Brannon; his brothers, Donald, Howard, and Ronald Mashburn; and his sisters, Diane Jones and Doris Fleming.

Barry will be remembered for his compassion, humor, wisdom, determination, and deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, knowledge, and memories that will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.

Cremation has been chosen, and no services will be held. The family will remember and honor Barry privately.
